My favorite iPod to date. (A.K.A. The iPod Apple should've released in 2007.)
NOTICE: This review is for the NEW 2009 160GB iPod Classic, NOT the 2007 160GB iPod Classic! The new 160GB iPod Classic is easily Apple Inc.'s best iPod to date, and out of all of the iPods that I own, this is my favorite. First, the capacity of this iPod is simply unbeatable. I've yet to see another portable media player that can match the iPod Classic in capacity. I have a huge music library, and it's nice to be able to carry every song that I own on my person at all times. What's more, thanks to the iPod Classic's capacity, I also have room to carry a few videos with me, and some of my photos. If you don't like having to pick which songs to load onto your portable media player, the iPod Classic is the way to go. The second thing that I love about this iPod can be summed up in two words: it works. The 160GB iPod Classic that was introduced in 2007 was extremely buggy, had a non-responsive Clickwheel on many units, crashed frequently, and...

New To iPod - A Review for People with Large mp3 Collections
I am quite new to the portable mp3 world, although I have about 250 gb of music on my computer. The only mp3 player I own is a 1 gb Samsung Pebble, which I use at the gym. This was the only mp3 player I thought I needed since both of the stereos in my vehicles have mp3 disc players. But then I started thinking...since my new Camry has an auxilary jack to hook up an mp3 device, wouldn't it be great to have one and get rid of those giant cd wallets?! The first task was to get permission from my wife to spend 250 bucks. After a little hesitation, she agreed. And then it was on to the research. Since I have such a large collection of music, the capacity of the device was number one on my list (as well as positive reviews & quality). I was pleasantly surprised to see that Apple had reissued the Classic in 160 gb form instead of the 120 gb. So after much personal debate between the Zune and the new 160 gb iPod Classic, the iPod won out. Although the iPod is a fantastic...

Great iPod, great upgrade, but you might not want to throw away you 5th Gen Ipod yet...
This is the second iPod I own. The first one was a 30 Mb 5th Generation Ipod Video.First, the plus. There are many improvements in the 7th generation comparing it to the 5th, although I think most of them were introduced with the 6th Gen. The whole Cover Flow/Genius capabilities are definetly an improvement to the previous software. The games are a nice bonus. I've only had it for three days, but I can already see that I like the new interface a lot more. And the disk space, I mean, WOW! The ipod is basically the same size as my 30 Gb one, but it's capacity is over 5 times bigger. I am an avid music fan, have tons of music, and my musical taste ranges from ambient to heavy metal, but I think it's going to be a long time before I fill this one up. I think this is the best feature of this iPod, and by itself, the reason you should buy it.There are also video capabilities, which have always been a plus, and some other stuff, but I didn't see...

Inexpensive, portable power, in a pinch
Compact, inexpensive, take with you (throw it in your carry-on) kind of power.I bought this for the numerous times I'm out and about, not near a charger.Turns out, this works pretty well! Bottom line, you'll get to 40% iPhone battery charge in 1 hour and 80% in 2 hours.I did a few tests myself: first, drained my iphone 4 to zero. Next, I attached the Stitchway UltraPower 1900, fully charged, onto my iPhone 4. Using a stopwatch, I recorded the following:15 mins = 11% iPhone charge20 mins = 14%31 mins = 22%48 mins = 33%59 mins = 40%70 mins = 48%95 mins = 65%119 mins = 79%125 mins = 79%151 mins = 79%I stopped timing after 151 minutes.I suspect it takes much longer to get the remaining 20% of battery charge.Enjoy!

Should have gone for a Sony in the first place
After trying a really crappy iHome iA5 and a confusing Jensen JiPS-250i, I went for simple-but-elegant with this Sony. Worked beautifully right out of the box. Don't want apps, don't want bells and whistles, don't need concert hall-quality sound. Just want an iPhone clock radio that will reliable charge my device and let me listen to my podcasts in bed at night without generating a bunch of error messages about how "this accessory is not optimized" for use with my iPhone. This one does the job. Small footprint on bedside table is a nice bonus.Highly recommended.

Does what it's designed for
When I went to the different stores I was looking for a small, minimal space occupying alarm clock that I can put by my bedside that would charge my iPhone, an adjustable buzzer volume that would wake me up with the buzzer, and not illuminate my whole room. If you're looking for that, then this is the product you need. In my shopping in stores I found them all to be too large, or the clock too bright, or the buzzer wasn't loud enough and didn't give you the option to adjust the volume to a level suitable for yourself. If you're looking for a high quality sound system, I doubt this is product for you because even though I didn't test the sound, I can't see it being used to provide music for a house party because it is so compact. I also really like that the ability to adjust the brightess of the alarm clock is real easy to find because it doubles as the snooze button when the alarm isn't going off. So, if it happens to be too bright you can adjust it easily. It has 3 levels of...

Awesome product
Love it, and it is even better than the description makes it sound. I love that I can set the volume for the alarm itself so that I can listen to music while I fall asleep and not have to worry about it being to low in the morning to wake me up. I also love that I can turn the backlight off at night. The only issue I have with it is that it is really easy to accidently snooze for longer than you would like. If you push the snooze button more than once it increases the snooze time, so be careful with that.

Useful, but missing a little
Actually, IPod isn't really missing a manual--a very thorough one is available on Apple's website. However, I'm more of a book person than screen person, so I found this manual pretty useful. Young people have a natural knack for technology, and most have little patience for reading through a book, but if you're a novice at the IPod thing you'll get step by step instructions on navigating around the various IPod incarnations. Also included are advanced moves, diagnostic tools, and little "secrets" and tips that will have you getting the most out of your device. Using ITunes is included, but one of the most annoying things about ITunes is the way it often splits up your albums when you load them. This book is missing instructions on how to put them back together. I did find a very helpful website that gave several methods (I seemed to have to "play" with several methods before finding the one that worked) for tidying up all your albums. The site is [...] .Overall,...

All is revealed.
iPod, The Missing Manual (2010 Eighth Edition) by J.D. Biersdorfer with David Pogue is another success story in the Missing Manual series published by O'Reilly Media, Inc.The book attempts to cover most iPods since 2007 through 2009. The notable exception here are the iPhone and the new iPad. Biersdorfer and Pogue cover in great detail and clarity almost any question an iPod owner might have. Topics are nicely broken down by how most people would experience using the iPod. The blending of the iPod with iTunes is admirably covered. The book also offers a balanced approach for both Windows and Macintosh users. As steps to complete activities with each iPod differ the authors further offer step by step guides from older video iPods to the present iPod Touch. The effort is to make available almost all information needed for the beginning user. This, of course, limits some of the information more experienced users might desire. But the iPods have developed so...

Get a Birds-Eye Look at Your Collection With Grid View

Although it’s been around since iTunes 8, Grid View is still probably the most eye-catching way to see your media library. It’s like laying out all your albums on the living room floor—great for seeing everything you’ve got, without the hassle of having to pick it all back up. More picturesque than List View and not quite as moving as Cover Flow, Grid View is the middle road to discovering (or rediscovering) what’s in your iTunes library.
iTunes offers four ways to see your collection: grouped by album, artist, genre, or composer. Click each named tab to see the music sorted by that category. (If you don’t see the tabs, choose View-->Grid View-->Show Header.) Here’s how to work the Grid:

1) Hover your mouse over any tile on the grid to get a clickable Play icon that lets you start listening to the music.
2) Double-click a cover in Albums view to display both the cover and song titles in List View.
3) If you have multiple albums under the Artists, Genres, or Composers tabs, hover your mouse over each tile to rotate through the album covers. If you want to represent the group using a particular album cover or piece of art, right-click it and choose Set Default Grid Artwork. You can do the opposite for art you don’t want to see: right-click it and choose Clear Default Grid Artwork.
4) Adjust the size of the covers and art by dragging the slider at the top of the window.
One thing about Grid View, though: It’s pretty darn depressing unless you have artwork on just about everything in your collection. (If you don’t, and you see far too many generic musical-note icons there, Chapter 5 shows you how to art things up.) And if you hate Grid View, don’t use it—iTunes just defaults to whatever view you were using the last time you quit the program. Top to learn more

second, it is the manual. Sony iPod car transmitter works fine with home stereo system (for example Sony BT receiver). Very compact and easy to use FM iPod car transmitter from Sony allows you to play your player’s catalog through the stereo system in the car or at home. Though in official documents the Classic model is not listed, Sony iPod car transmitter sure works with it as well. If it has 30-pin connector – probably everything will be fine, but I can talk only about iPod Classic. Every iPod’s control work just fine (for example you can turn the volume up and down), but ironically it has no effect on the output sound at all. The device works well with all major models of iPod (from 1 to 5 generation).
